9 “Woe to him who strives with him who formed him,
a pot among earthen pots!
Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
or ‘Your work has no handles’? (Isaiah 45:9 ESV)
We should not contend with God. It is very easy, depending upon our circumstances, to question God about what is happening, who we are, why we are in the situation we are in. But this is the clay talking back to the potter. God has His reasons for everything we contend with, some are our own making and some He allows or even creates so that we may grow.
I think most have spent some time questioning God. Luckily, He is big enough to reason with our doubts. However, He is not to be called into question and it is easy for us mere humans to do exactly that. We go from questioning to accusing, it is here where we error.
I believe God is open to discourse about who we are and why we are, just not His motives behind any of it. He is the I AM, and He does what He does for reasons we cannot often fathom. We must make the best of where we are and who we are and leave the rest up to God.
Reflect on: Are you regularly questioning or accusing God? Check your motives first.
