22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;[a]
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.” (Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV)
As we wake to a new morning it can be easy to take the worries of the last day into this one. But what can you do about yesterday? You can only impact what happens today. Yesterday can be baggage that we do not need to carry into this new day and tomorrow will have issues of its own.
Thus, if we seek to look at each day anew and remember that the Lord is ever the same, He renews us for the day, He is our portion and our hope. Doing this can help yesterday’s worries fade and tomorrows expectations grow.
By looking at life this way we can see how the early writers of the scriptures looked at each day. They did not string them together into an endless morass of worry, but began them fresh and new.
Reflect on: How you enter into your day, are you entering it in expectation or trepidation?
