¹⁴ Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. ¹⁵ And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.”  (Acts 1:14-15 NKJV)

Are you open to God’s assignments for you on the daily? In our scripture Lydia listened and opened her heart and her home to the disciples. Now, she was a business woman who probably ran her fabric business from her home. I am sure this kept her plenty busy either in the making or selling of her product. Yet, she listened to the Lord and heeded His call.

There have been a great many different things I have done for the Kingdom over the years. God has called me and I have listened and then there were times He called me and I didn’t listen. I can look back now and see the opportunities missed, and I always feel sad about the missed opportunities. Yes, sometimes I did not recognize the call until after I missed it, but there were also times when I chose against it. It is the latter that now burden my heart more.
