¹² And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and ^[a]admonish you, ¹³ and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 NKJV)

When was the last time you took time to thank those who have helped bring you along in your faith journey? It may have been a pastor, a good Christian friend, a faithful family member or another who either introduced you to Christ or has simply helped foster your maturity in the faith.

In truth we tend to take these people for granted. They heed their call to spread the Good News and to mentor others in the faith, but who build them up aside from the Spirit? I have watched many strong ministers and other lay-members who simply get tired, disillusioned and dejected because no one ever thanks them or helps them in their journey. They ultimately may step away from their God given role not because of any failure in themselves or God, but just because they never feel the love back.

We must remember that many ministers also have lives and problems of their own. They may be struggling in life just as much or more than those they minister to. It is often a thankless job and most times one that only really pays dividends once they get to heaven. In sort they are taken for granted.
