Implied Contracts

but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. 1 John 2:5-6 ESV)

Keeping one’s word is very important. In fact, to do so was once considered a verbal contract. To break that word was to break an implied contract and was viewed very harshly, at times ending up in a court case.

Keeping His Word, is also an implied contract. When we accept Christ we enter into such an implied contract with God. He is expected to hold up His end of the bargain with His saving grace and eternity in heaven. We are expected to hold up our end of the bargain by acting in a way that is Christ like and by telling others of that all important saving grace. Our side of the contract seems so slight in the face of eternity. We are truly being given a golden contract that pays far higher rewards than what we must put into the deal. But we must hold to our end of the deal.

Reflect on: The contract we have with God and how well we are holding up our end of the deal. Are you keeping His Word?
