How We Work Together

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building. (1 Corinthians 3:6-9 ESV)

We are all workers in God’s field in what He is building. Each of us has a part to play alongside God. Neither the one who plants, nor the one who waters is greater. Each of us will receive our just reward in heaven. We must remember we are all coworkers in God’s kingdom.

Over many years I have shared the Gospel with a lot of people. There may be many who read these words and learn of God’s loving grace and mercy. But I rarely see how of any seed that God’s word through me might have taken root produces. That part of God’s plan is invisible to me and that is ok. I trust in others watering and God growing that person.

We must simply look to what task God has given each of us and allow it to play out in others lives. I believe God will show us how our small efforts took root and grew when we arrive in heaven.

Reflect on: Your tiny role in God’s great plan and find peace with it.
