“While she was there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in clothes and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:6-7 (NIV)
From my reading this morning it says; Prepare Him room. He came down to earth from heaven, who is God and Lord of all, and His shelter was a stable, and His cradle was a stall.
There was no room for Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem so Mary gave birth to Christ in a manger and laid him in a cradle of hay. From this lowly beginning came the Savior of mankind. From nothing came something of everlasting substance.
We need to prepare Him room in our hearts and in our lives. If we only expect God to be a bystander to our lives, watching from afar then He too will not make a place for us. We must recognize that accepting Christ is accepting the Holy Spirit, an indwelling of God’s divine nature who is within, closer than a bystander. He is every bit a part of our lives and should be the essence of our being.
But we must make space and in doing so change the shape of our lives. God within must be reflected without. If He is truly living inside who we are on the outside must and will change. Making room for Him will remake us. If we will but let it.
