3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, (2 Peter 1:3 NKJV)
It is easy to read a scripture and scoff a bit at times. I think this can be especially true when we read that God has given to us all things, not some things, but all things. We can look around our lives and see many missing things and begin to question God. But once again, like with many scriptures we cannot take portions out of context.
First, He defines what all things pertain to; life and godliness. Now “life” can be also taken out of context, because what God is referring to is specific. He wants us to live a godly life, and He does give us everything we need to do this. But, we must put what He gives us into practice. Furthermore, how does He give us these things? Through the knowledge of Him who called us, by glory and virtue. Meaning He is giving us what we need not of our own accord, but through Him. As other scriptures teaches us, we can do nothing alone.
Reflect on: Are you trying to live a godly life on your own, or through the One who gives us everything!?
Given To Us All Things
