There have been times in my life where God directed me to a place that felt fully in His will and where I was supposed to be. Then, after a time, those places became dry and barren and I felt like it was time to move on. Some times I did and other times God did not open up a path.

⁵ So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. ⁶ The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. ⁷ And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. (1 Kings 17:5-7 NKJV)

Life can turn that way. You can feel perfectly placed and happy for a time and then your brook dries up and you know that you need to move on. It took me a very long time to realize that, in many of these cases, it was God at work. Yes, sometimes it was me just not feeling it anymore, but God does not need us to be in the right head place to move us on. No, He just needs us to be listening.

We may not always be sure exactly why God is moving us on, but the nudge is normally there if we just look for it. Staying too long can cause us to feel very discouraged and discontented. This too may be God at work telling us a season of change is upon us. Seasons of change can be really scary, but we need to look to the One who makes our provision, seek His will and trust in His guidance.
