The More We Can Be

23 to be renewed[b] in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on[c] the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth. (Ephesians 4:23-24 CSB)

So, today is the 5th of January, who has made it this far with their New Year’s resolutions?

Sadly for most of us they tend to fall away pretty quickly. Hopefully, you have made it this far, but to sustain takes dedication. So to we should be putting on a renewed, new self spiritually and be dedicated to its actualization.

New Year’s is a time to reflect and renew. It is a time for us to take account of how we have been and find ways to be better. And much like other resolutions, these are things that we must work at each day.

The latter part of our scripture should be the impetus we need as it tells us to put on what was “created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth”. We were not created for the worlds ways. We were not created to follow the enemy, but to worship and follow the Father and the Son. The Spirit within us is a driving force for the good in our lives. It is only our fallen nature that makes us anything less.

It is the more that we can be, in and through Christ, that we must focus on so that the renewed, new self is realized.
