Heart, Mind and Soul

37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. (Matthew 22:37 ESV)

What does it really mean to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind? Really consider this for just a moment.

The scripture is not calling for some passive kind of love. No, our love for God must be very active in our lives involving heart, mind and soul. But we tend to only give God small parts of ourselves, not our whole being. Granted, this can be hard. But should it be?

Christ gave His whole for us. He held nothing back all the way to the point of death and beyond. Taking on the sins of the world past, present and future is a gargantuan task, but He did it. It became more than His heart, mind and soul.

Thus, we need to consider just what we are really willing to give to God. He deserves it all!

Reflect on: How much you really give and what giving everything would look like.
