Do Not Be Entangled

1 Stand[a] fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1 NKJV)

Of late I have written a lot about the freedom we find in faith in Christ. Our freedom can be a liberating thing that opens up many new paths. Paths that the Spirit will help us discern to know where God wants us. We must not let ourselves be entangled with any new or lingering old yoke of bondage to sin in this new life. Thus, we must take heed to scripture and pray for God’s firm hand on our lives.

You see, old habitual sin is very hard to break. It must be plucked out by the root and not allow, like a weed, for it to germinate in our lives in any way. And just like a weed, it will strive to break new ground in our lives. The enemy wants nothing more than to accuse us of our new or continued sin. We may feel powerless over it because it harkens back to a different life we were comfortable in, we must attack its root and continue to tend the spiritual soil of our soul.

Reflect on: How old bondage to sin tries to keep weeding its way back into your life. How do you keep tending your spiritual soil?
