21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy.’ (Matthew 25:21 CSB)
“Welcome home!”
“Well done, good and faithful servant!”
I expect to hear the first and I hope to hear the second when I breathe my last here on earth.
The first is assured with salvation, but the last requires work on our part. Now know, we do not earn our salvation. It is given freely. But we are expected, once we have it, to earn that second phrase. And, to be honest, it should be our highest calling here on earth.
God wishes for all mankind to find salvation, but He also expects us to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” This, not because we are fearful that we are not saved, but we well understand the weight of Christ sacrifice. We understand and we wish to please our Father in Heaven with our actions here on earth.
A life in Christ is not hard, but should make us want to do hard things. It should drive us to become the best we can be and strive to exemplify Christ in our lives. If we are not we should ask ourselves why. Why is there no fear? Why is there no trembling? Will God say well done?
Then we should work to right our lives so that we are working toward that phrase.
Well done my good and faithful servant.
