8 The Lord is good and upright;
therefore he shows sinners the way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way. (Psalm 25:8-9 CSB)
Walking a humble path, while sometime difficult, is a path that God wishes each of us to walk. It means that we are not relying upon our own faulty understanding or our own capabilities, but ever looking toward God. We are taking direction and finding our way based upon His guidance and not our own.
The selfish and prideful path is the one the world and the enemy wants us to take. Looking to ourselves and those around us to point the direction. Taking selfish ambition before humble service. It is a path that may lead to success and wealth. Why not? This is the path of the enemy and, for a time, he can make it very fulfilling. But then his lies are revealed and the path becomes hard and riddled with many negatives and pitfalls.
While taking the humble path may not lead quickly to all we desire, over time it provides a life that is fulfilling and meaningful. It creates a life where God comes first and our desires second. God will show us the way.
