Wise

18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. (1 Corinthians 3:18 ESV)

The world counts wisdom in a very different way than God does. In fact, it can be that too much worldly learning can turn us against God. We can literally intellectualize our way right out of belief. You see, the wisdom God brings to us is vastly different from intellectual knowledge.

I am not against intellectual knowledge. However, I am against how it can get in the way of Godly wisdom. One who becomes wise in God’s way are the ones with true wisdom. Yes, we can study our way to a form of wisdom. However, there is much God gives us through scripture and prayer that is only unlocked by the Holy Spirit. He brings about a different kind of wisdom that aligns us with God’s plan.

So as we learn and apply intellectual knowledge let us season it with the true wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit. Gaining not just a practical ability, but understanding how God relates to everything. In fact it is better we become a fool that we may be wise.
