Where we Belong

For none of us lives for himself, and no one dies for himself. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. (Romans 14:7-8 CSB)

Notice one very important part of our scripture today. It does not say “if you believe”. No, it basically says “if we live.” Thus, no one will be exempt from God’s law in the end, no one will get a pass, no one will be excluded.

This should be a sobering thought. But the world does not believe the Word. It seeks it’s own path and wants to make it’s own rules, and we who are in the Word are deemed intolerant and backward believing as we do.

Well, so be it.

If I am wrong I have lost nothing.

If I am right I have gained everything.

More and more we are watching scripture play out in society. It is coming to pass as the prophecy it professes to be, but the world refuses to see this. Soon it will be too late.

We, as believers, stand more and more in conflict with the world and we must decide if we will stand against the rising tide or try to hide from it.

I think, daily, about how it is getting progressively more difficult to live out a faith life…and I welcome it. Because, as our scripture says; Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

We belong.
