By Word & Deed

18 For I would not dare say anything except what Christ has accomplished through me by word and deed (Romans 15:18a CSB)

It can be easy to get so wrapped up in what we are doing that we forget who it is we are doing it through and for. Our mindset slips into making a living or taking care of ourselves and/or our families that we just forget God. Suddenly we are doing it all for ourselves.

Fostering a humble nature and accepting that all we do is accomplished through Christ alone can help us combat this. By doing so we can let go, to some extent, the outcomes and allow Christ to work through us. When we are fighting the fight of life only for what is temporal we quickly see how we can lose this battle and all that goes with that. It is then that we come running back to Christ, asking for His intervention in lives we have not tended well.

If we begin by keeping in mind that all we do, say or accomplish is through Christ, then we begin to see life differently. The battle is no longer our own, but Christ fights with us and for us. He paves the way and is with us through the good and the bad times. Then we can say what we do not dare say anything but what Christ has accomplished through me by word and deed.
