No Way But Up

15 This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them. 16 But I received mercy for this reason, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ Jesus might demonstrate his extraordinary patience as an example to those who would believe in him for eternal life. (1 Timothy 1:15-16 CSB)

When you know your at the bottom there is no way but up.

No truer words have ever been spoken. But we may want to consider what the bottom really looks like. It is not always down and out. This state can often be found at the panicle of success as well.

I have known wealthy men and women who were broken beyond my capacity to explain. They were broken of mind and broken of soul. They were destitute in a wholly different way. Some never made it out of this state before their lives ended and they lost out on everything.

I have been told religion is a crutch. I have been accused of being intolerant. I have had the Bible thrown in my face when I never practiced throwing it in another’s face. Yet, these same people are the ones who run to you when their world turns upside down.

Look, I often feel like Paul, that I am the chief among sinners. I know that in light of God’s perfection I am but a dirty rag. But I strive to be light more than I am darkness. I strive to do good in this world and to live my faith.

Regardless of my state, I know there is no way but up and regardless of yours there is no where to look but up.
