8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV)
We can find ourselves in a state of thinking that we know the right way, the better way and supplanting God’s actual plan. It is true that we may often not really understand God’s plan and we work on our own assumptions. But are we actually leaving any room for God to work or just rushing forward?
I know I have written about this, maybe many times before in various ways, maybe even on this same scripture. But it is a topic that needs to be revisited regularly. How can we truly know God’s way in a situation?
Well, for one thing we can see if what is happening points back to scripture or scripture points to it in some way. This, in my humble opinion, is the best way along with praying for insight. But it can be that we just need to give God a little space and time to work. We are impatient and want to direct things in our lives in a certain way. However, this may not leave space for God to actually work. It may be a rushing forward that we need to avoid accepting that we don’t necessarily know the right way.
Reflect on: How you might be rushing forward in life and not looking and listening for God’s thoughts on the matter?
