14 The secret counsel of the Lord
is for those who fear him,
and he reveals his covenant to them.
15 My eyes are always on the Lord,
for he will pull my feet out of the net. (Psalm 25:14-15 CSB)
I have written often of fear because it is one of those feelings that seems to be very pervasive in many people’s lives. Mine included.
But the fear that we are looking at today is not of that over which we typically have no control. It is the healthy kind of fear of the Lord that keeps our feet on the right path. A healthy fear of the Lord is part of working our salvation through sticking to scriptural truth. As our scripture says, doing so reveals the covenant we have with God and our place in that plan.
Furthermore, a healthy fear keeps our eyes glued upon the Lord. It helps us to better understand that this is the only way to live a faith based life. Eyes up, and each step guided by the Lord.
We live our lives with many unhealthy fears and anxieties. Some that are created from our own thoughts and actions and some created by external forces we have no control over. These are often sent by the enemy to create havoc in our lives, and he is very, very good at creating this kind of chaos. We often feel our feet in the net.
But God is there to keep us from these unhealthy fears and free our feet from the enemy’s snare.
We have to choose either the healthy or the unhealthy fear.
