Who Helps Hold You Up

11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became[a]heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. (Exodus 17:11-12 NKJV

It is pretty tough going it alone in this life. Yes, God gave us a helper in the Holy Spirit when we came to belief. He also may have given you a help mate, a spouse, to share this life with and to help you through. But we also need others who help hold us up when times are tough.

I tend to be a pretty solitary guy, but I truly know the value of friends. I have had many over the years, but few that were as close as brothers. Those I value more than gold. They are the ones who really stuck with me through thick and thin. Without them I know this life would have been so much harder and I would have made so many more bad decisions. They were simply closer than brothers, especially to a guy who had no brothers.

Reflect on: Your friends, especially those you call brother or sister, those who have been there for you through it all. Say a special prayer for them today and thank God they are in your life.
