9 He leads the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
10 All the Lord’s ways show faithful love and truth
to those who keep his covenant and decrees.
11 Lord, for the sake of your name,
forgive my iniquity, for it is immense. (Psalms 25:9-11 CSB0
I was away in the mountains of Angel Fire, New Mexico last week. I did a lot of bike riding while I was there. A few times I was not really clear on exactly where I was or where the trail led and phone service was spotty. I had to go back to finding my way “as the crow flies” so to speak.
We do not want to live life “as the crow flies”. We want to know the way and have faith that we are going the right way. Anything else makes us feel uneasy, our confidence wavers and we have to call upon and rely more upon faith.
Luckily, scripture teaches us some very specific ideas on what the right way might be. However, even when we are being directed by scripture, living on faith alone can really feel like we are out there alone. This can be especially true when we have something in our lives that draws us away from God.
It is in these times that we must fall on our knees and pray, knowing that God is faithful to forgive our iniquity and lead us to a new path. Even when we are prone to insecurities and depression we must bear up and wait upon God to open the way.
Do not go through life “as the crow flies”, learn to lean upon God and He will lead you in His ways.
