Thwarted

28 We know that all things work together[a] for the good[b] of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 CSB)

This is a well worn piece of scripture. It can give us comfort in difficult times and provide a comfort in God’s long term plan for our lives.

But how much do we thwart His plan for good in our life by our own actions. Not that we can, in any way, change God’s course. But because He gives us free will we can make a choice to take a different direction.

So it is truly we who we are thwarted. We become our own opposition. The online dictionary defines thwarted in this way; “prevent (someone) from accomplishing something. Oppose (a plan, attempt, or ambition) successfully.”

Thus it is we who thwart ourselves most often when it comes to Go’s plan and ambition for our lives. His plan still exist, it is up to us to get out of our own way.
