9 He told Samuel, “Go and lie down. If he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. (1 Samuel 3:9 CSB)
I often wonder as I write these who’s listening? Not to my words necessarily, but to the message God is imparting. I know in my readings some things strike me deeply and some float upon the waters of my mind, carried along and then away.
I believe God has a message in every word of scripture, for every person on this planet. Each has its time and place in my life. Each imparts a message I need to hear and heed.
We are assailed daily with information. From email, to social media to too many meetings. Life is all about information overload. Thus, I take this time every morning to sit quietly with the scripture and with God to, hopefully, begin my day with the best information I may access. My desire in doing so is to open my mind to the message God has for me, and in some small part, for the message I hope He has for you.
I woke up with this on my mind today. So I would ask a favor that I do not believe I have ever asked in a devotional. Share this with your contacts this morning. I feel like there are those out there who may just need to listen to a fresh message beyond my contacts. Maybe someone you know needs this touch today.
Let’s find out who’s listening but far more importantly, who needs to hear.
