5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, 6 knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, 7 godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:5-8 CSB)
There is much that goes into living a life of faith. Our scripture today list many of the qualities we need to foster from a spiritual and from a practical standpoint.
Rarely, if ever, is scripture only pointing toward a life of faith. They provide a moral and practical compass for every aspect of our lives. The knowledge contained within provide us a clear picture of right actions in our relationships, our business and our personal dealings…”they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in knowledge.”
Yes, scripture points us ever toward Jesus, but the practical knowledge contained is fruitful in many aspects of our lives. The icing on the cake is that with both belief and faith in Christ we gain eternity too.
