5 Just as you don’t know the path of the wind,
or how bones develop in[a] the womb of a pregnant woman,
so also you don’t know the work of God who makes everything. (Ecclesiastes 11:5 CSB)
There is much about the workings of God that we just do not know. Elsewhere in scripture it says, “His ways are higher than our ways” and this is very true. Most of our ways are quite lowly and focused wholly upon ourselves.
But even in our unknowing we can be assured there is caring. That His ways are truly higher than ours and have our best interest in mind. Thus, we must relinquish our will to His direction so that we know we are on the right path. And when His direction is unclear, we must simply pray and keep moving forward until He makes His direction clear.
These are not easy things. Faith can be hard, very hard. But it is we who make it so, not God who gives freely.
Even when we don’t know what lies ahead, we must focus our eyes above awaiting instruction.
