32 Some were shouting one thing and some another, because the assembly was in confusion, and most of them did not know why they had come together. (Acts 19:32 CSB)
Our enemy seeks to keep us in a state of confusion. By keeping us in conflict he maintains a state that does not allow for measured and cohesive responses.
When confusion reigns, much like in our scripture today, people even forget what they were arguing about to begin with. Distraction, confusion and conflict are some of the greatest weapons our enemy uses to keep us off-guard and at each other’s throats.
If we would but take a moment to take a breath and think, we could avoid all of this. If we would just hear each other out and find common ground. If we would first seek to understand before we seek to be understood we could defeat him at his own game.
Take a breath, listen and then respond. Be quick to listen and slow to anger.
