4 Let each person examine his own work, and then he can take pride in himself alone, and not compare himself with someone else. (Galatians 6:4 CSB)
As humans we have this natural bent to compare ourselves with others. We look at others lives or others as individuals and begin to measure ourselves in that perceived light. We know nothing of the reality of what or who they might truly be. We have no real insight into their actual lives, we see the facade of the outside. This is not to use the term in a negative sense. A facade is simply an exterior viewpoint. It is what we see, not what we know.
We each have worth and should take pride in either our humble or our exalted positions in life. Some of the most impressive people have lived in the most humble of circumstances.
