16 Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me,
For I am [a]desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart have enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses!
18 Look on my affliction and my pain,
And forgive all my sins. (Psalm 25:16-18 NKJV)
There is always something in this life to concern ourselves with. Whether it is our own turmoil, turmoil of a loved one, some pain or affliction, money concerns, or any number of troubles. Life is just full of them. But even amongst these troubling things we can find joy. We can turn to God and ask him to forgive our sins and take away our misery.
Does He always? No, some times we must go through seasons of these afflictions that are there to hone our faith. We do not like to be put to the Fathers whetstone, but we may need the sharpening. And this may not always be a portion that we ourselves are suffering from, but that of a loved one. These can be especially painful, as we often do not know what we can do for them.
When I say that our prayer life is paramount to our faith life no words can express this enough. I have never felt like I was good at praying. I hear others eloquently formed prayers and feel my inadequacy. But God hears me, this I know, and He fills in my blanks and overlooks my lack of eloquence.
Reflect on: How prayer forms your faith life.
