Social Media shows us an incessant need for us to be known. People post the best of their lives there expecting others to look on in wonder. But there is so much we do not see, so much between the lines. To be known, in truth, may not reflect all that well upon us.
1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of [a]God! Therefore the world does not know [b]us, because it did not know Him. (1 John 3:1 NKJV)
I confess, I am not much for social media. Yes, I post my devotionals to Facebook and LinkedIn in, but I am not about posting everything about my life. In fact, I would much rather not be known, but put forth that which I wish others to know and that is the love of God. This does not make me better or worse than anyone else there. I am still the chief among sinners. I just desire to put my God first and to be known for doing so.
But we are told that the world does not know us as it did not know Him. In this day and time I wish that were more true if I am truthful. Do not read me wrong, I want everyone to know Christ, and Him crucified and sanctified. But in our world of hacking and scamming I wish to have a lower sancitified profile. Thus, if only Christ comes through my post, so much the better for it.
Reflect on: How you are known, both socially and more importantly by God.
