Wisdom From God

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:5-8 NKJV)

There have been times in my life where I just did not feel up to the task. Times where I knew my knowledge was limited and my vision for a path forward was dim. In these times I went to God and asked for wisdom and guidance. In hindsight, He was always true and gave me what wisdom I needed for the situation. For the most part, I learned from these situations and have leveraged that wisdom throughout my life.

God will not leave us stranded. However, our scripture gives us more clues to what God is looking for in us so that He pours out His wisdom liberally and without reproach.

We need to ask in faith and not doubt that God will be up to the task of helping us. You see, God is looking for change in us to be assured that we are worthy of the wisdom He gives. Our minds cannot ask for one thing when we are unwilling to change in our ways to match that wisdom and situational change. If we ask for deliverance, but continue to sin we are double-minded and unstable.

Reflect on: Are you seeking God’s wisdom with the right mindset and in faith?
