17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. (1 Peter 1:17-19 ESV)
Like the Israelites, we too are in a form of exile, exile from our heavenly home to which we will one day return. But that return is only facilitated through the blood of Christ, least we not forget.
There was, for a time, a popular marketing campaign called “Not of this earth”. This is one idea we should adopt. We are not of this earth, and as such we need to be careful of just how much this world influences our day to day.
As our scriptures say, “knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways”, is something that we need to keep in the forefront of our minds. Day to day and moment to moment.
Reflect on: How your ways reflect the faith life you should be living.
