What is that to you?

22 Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!”23 So the saying spread abroad among the brothers[a]that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?” (John 21:22-23 ESV)

We get hung up on what others say, do and have. Instead of looking to our own conditions, we continually look at others and use a worldly measuring stick.

What is that to you?

Nothing! As Jesus tried to tell the disciples, regardless of what He had planned for one should not be the measure of the others. Jesus looks at us all differently, just as God made us different. We are all unique. The only measure we need to use is one against Jesus’ own life. And we know we will never measure up there. But, glory be to God, that is why He sent Jesus to die for us. Just because we could never measure up.

Reflect on: Stop looking at other’s lives to measure your own. Figure out what God wants of you and measure against that.
