Fix Your Eyes

2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)

I had a medical problem some years ago that caused me to lose quite a lot of vision in my left eye. As such, my depth perception is not great and I have to compensate for this lack of vision. Even if I fix my eyes on something I may not clearly see how close to it I am.

Our faith life can be very much the same. We lose some aspect of our vision when we take our eyes off Christ. We begin looking at the world and fixating upon that which hold little value in the grand scheme of eternity. Our faith vision becomes cloudy and we are not keeping hold of God’s promises, but we are reaching for the world and the enemy’s false hopes.

Thus, fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfected of our faith, who set aside His life and endured the cross for us.

Reflect on: Where is your focus? Is it upon what the world holds, or what Jesus holds?
