24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.[a] (Matthew 6:24 ESV)
There is no mistaking that the word operates on money. It is not impossible to get along without it, but it is implausible, at least if you plan to live anywhere in our society. The problem is that we tend to worship at the feet of money, our materialism proves this point out clearly.
But money is not our only issue when it comes to serving two masters. God takes a back seat to so many idols in our lives. You need only look to where you spend the majority of your time and energy to see what idol you may be setting before Him.
I am coming to believe more and more that we need to lay everything at Christ feet and ask Him to either concentrate it or remove it from our lives.
Reflect on: You may not hate God, but does your love of something else supplant Him?
