9 Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things—things that belong to salvation. 10 For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.11 And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, (Hebrews 6:9-11 ESV)
God will not overlook anything we have done here on earth. That is both good and bad. While Jesus paid for our sins, we will face the White Throne of Judgement and have to account for everything. Not to fear, Jesus blood will cover our sins at that time as it does now. But our reward in heaven will also be based on our good works.
The Christian life should make us want to do good things for God is service of others. Every good work we do stores up rewards for us in heaven. In our work life we also want to do what we do not for man but for God. In doing so we are serving a dual purpose of a good job for our employer and for our Father. In this way we should never see our work as a burden, but a gift we are given and give back to God.
Reflect on: Your work, who you are doing it for and the earnestness you put in.
