6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7 ESV)
We may not link dealing with anxiety by having a humble nature. However, God desires that we look at everything with a humble nature, knowing that it is He who gives us all we have and everything is in His hands.
Anxiety is something I am very familiar with. I have battled with it for many years. It used to be far worse than it is now, but I still have times when my anxiety hits. This, for me, is often in the middle of the night. I wake up with my mind spinning and I have to get up and write notes to myself about what I need to do and pray for God’s deliverance from my rampaging thoughts.
If I will make my notes, and then sit back, close my eyes and pray for God to take everything in His all powerful hands I can get back to bed. I have to humble myself and acknowledge that all is in His hands to begin with and no amount of my concern will fix what He already has a plan for.
Reflect on: What causes you anxiety? Ask God to humble your nature and know that it is all in His hands.
