3 When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me? (Psalm 56:3-4 ESV)
There should be this gap between flesh and faith. When the flesh is weak we need to fall back on our faith. Whether the situation is one of our own flesh being weak against sin, our fleshly confidence being rocked or others flesh lashing out at us. Our response must be to fall back on our faith.
Our scripture today points the way. We must not fear and we must trust and praise. People can get the trust part down but struggle with the praise. Because it can be hard to praise God when we are in some type of struggle. But we must look ahead to the victory we have in Christ so our praise, even in the difficult, can burst forth.
Reflect on: The fact that flesh has little to do with the strength of our faith.
