¹² No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. (1 John 4:12 ESV)

This is a beautiful line in scripture, because it shows us how we can see God through experience.

The statement of this scripture is odd and somewhat complex if we really read it. It begins by stating the simple fact that no one has ever seen God. However, the disciples had seen Christ who was God. But surely, in subsequent times people did not see God. At least not face to face.

However, it goes on to state how others can “see” God in us through our love. Since God is love, and we represent God on earth, He is visible in us when we reflect that love to others. So we can show them the love of God and they can experience a small portion of who He is.

The true question is, does our life reflect the love of God?
