4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? (Romans 2:4 ESV)
We can find ourselves in a position where we presume too much regarding God’s patience with us. As our scripture says, “God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance.” Meaning, that God’s forbearance with us and His patience is not meant as Him allowing us to continue in our ways. No! He desires a change in our hearts and our lives. He desires that we repent, turn to Him and away from our ways.
However, we are stubborn creatures who get far too comfortable with how we live our lives. We may not make the hard choices to right a behavior or to move toward God’s clearly defined direction. In this we continue to sin and take God for granted. We presume the riches of His kindness, forbearance and patience as acceptance.
Reflect on: What do you presume about your faith life that might not be God’s will.
