8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
which must be curbed with bit and bridle,
or it will not stay near you. (Psalm 32:8-9 ESV)
Be not like a horse or a mule. Sound advice. For if we are without understanding we need to be curbed with bit and bridle. When we do not learn from scripture we, like the horse or mule, stray from God’s side. We think we have the answers to questions not yet asked of us.
How much better a life where we take the instruction provided by scripture or the counsel and leading of the Spirit. In this life of allowing ourselves to be lead we stay close to God and heed His instructions, not allowing the enemy to lead us astray.
Reflect on: How you are living your life daily. Do you heed God’s word in how you live? Do you rely upon His Spirit or do you need bit and bridle?
