Fill, Teach, Protect, Renew

17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (2 Peter 3:17-18 ESV)

There is a central point of knowledge in our scripture today. It points to our need to dig deeply into scripture to mine the gold contained within. But this cannot happen if we are not in the scripture daily and supplementing it with prayers of understanding and, possibly, a bit of additional commentary.

However, there is also the discernment of the Spirit each Christian is given. Even if we are not in our scripture as much as we should be the Spirit is there to provide some indication as to whether something is a godly pursuit. He provides a persistent pull against our spirit.

Therefore, it is beneficial to ask the Holy Spirit daily to; fill me, teach Me, protect me and renew my spirit. In doing so we invite Him in to help when we are tending toward sin.

Reflect on: Are you asking the Holy Spirit in each day?
