How We Give Back

17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. (1 Timothy 6:17-19 ESV)

God blesses us all the same when it comes to salvation, but differently in other ways. He too is looking at how we use our riches, desiring that we are doing Kingdom work with what He has given us. This is why our scripture ends the way it does. God looks for us to store up for ourselves what we need so that we can continue to do good work for Him.

Thus, there is a balance between our giving and our storing up. We are not to look to what we have as a security for the future. Nothing we possess will last forever. But what God offers us does last forever and until we reach our heavenly reward He expects us to be about His business. Rich in good works, generous and ready to share.

Reflect on: How you are giving back to God each day with your time, talent and treasure.
