11 I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:11 ESV)
How much of what you read in scripture are you storing up in your heart? Meaning, how much of God’s word do you truly internalize and practice?
Scripture is not some interesting story we read. It is the power of life and death and it is a guide to all things. Thus, we should ask ourselves how much of what we read can we readily recall, at least in theory, if not the actual verses themselves.
God meant these verses as a guard for our soul to combat the enemy and for right living. If we hope to battle his flaming arrows we must store them up in our heart and our head. We must make practical regular use of scripture, applying it to every aspect of our lives.
Then, when the enemy comes against us we will have the armor of God to protect us and the word of God to rebuke him.
Reflect on: How well you are internalizing (storing up in your heart) scripture so that you might combat sin.
