9 “Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children— (Deuteronomy 4:9 ESV)
We have much to pass on to our children and grand children. Much we have witnessed God do in our lives that they need to hear about. This retelling of stories of God’s intervention in our lives is also good to keep us diligent and keep us from forgetting. I think this is especially important in longer spells of health and prosperity. For we can soon forget just who helped us to achieve both.
As my children have and raise their children, I am even more diligent about how I am living. I want to do nothing that dishonors God that my grandchildren could witness and might make them question a burgeoning faith. Thus, it is all the more important that we take even greater measure in our lives for living a good Christian life.
Little children pick up so much that we do not think that they do. They are little sponges that are just constantly primed to learn something new. It is therefore most important that what we are feeding their little brains the right food.
Reflect on: Do the actions and words of your life speak to your faith, or simply a man trying to live a good life?
