14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. (Romans 12:14 ESV)
How much do you think about, and pray about, blessing others?
If I am honest I do not do this nearly enough. Yes, I say prayers over friends or people I meet when I know there is a need, but just saying a prayer of blessing I will not regularly think to do.
How much more so do we not bless those who are angry with us?
It is a hard question to be sure. But consider the outcome. If we truly take time to bless others, to pray over them, is there not only a positive effect for them but for us as well? How much more so would this be the case with those who persecute or curse us?
You see, saying a blessing shifts our focus and our mindset. We may no longer feel the animosity we did before and we may even see from that persons point of view the reason they are angry with us. Blessing everyone we come in contact with can have a hugely positive impact upon our lives. And potentially more so upon theirs as they leave us with God’s blessing.
At an absolute minimum, we have breathed some amount of positivity into both of our lives with a simple blessing.
