22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:22-24 ESV)
It is the time of the year where Christ should be most manifest in our lives. We, as Christians, need to bring to the holidays the fruit of the Spirit which lives inside of us. In this way we show our celebration of Christ birth even more so than usual in how we act.
We love instead of hate, we bring peace to others, we are patient and kind, we fill the world with goodness and gentleness, our faithfulness is displayed in our self-control. We display in all we do, as we always should, that we belong to Christ and manifest this through all we do.
The beauty of what this scripture further tells us is that against these things there is no law. This means that you and I can pour out these fruits of the Spirit as freely and liberally as we desire. So you have an open invitation to be all of these things in great measure each day. Let’s take the days remaining until Christmas and see how much of this joy we can spread around.
Then, let’s take it into the new year!
