15 My son, if your heart is wise,
my heart too will be glad. (Proverbs 23:15 ESV)
I questioned this scripture at first. I know I should not have, but it seems like the more I knew the more disheartened I became in this world. There in lies the issue. The more I knew of the world the more disheartened I became, but the more I learn about God and the scriptures, the more my heart became glad.
We seek intellectual knowledge, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, when that intellectual knowledge starts to get in the way of our spiritual growth and knowledge, we should become wary. You see, the enemy will help us think our way right out of much of what scripture teaches. He will lead us to controversy around scripture and what the world has to say about our beliefs. The intellect will teach us tolerance at all cost, even in the face of going against scripture.
Thus, coming back to scriptural wisdom we can put away and dispute the enemy and the world and find our way back to gladness. Do not let your intellectual view of anything in scripture cloud your beliefs in what God has promised.
