14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV)
The greatest lie that the enemy assaults us with is that we are alone. That, no matter how much we pray and seek God, we have no one who really understands our weaknesses. He needles us with these feelings and fears and makes us doubt who we are and who God is.
Do not give into this lie!
Christ was often alone. He was tempted. He was scorned by His own people. The religious leaders conspired to have Him killed. Christ was more than alone, he was alone and sought like a criminal.
How can He not know how we feel!? He sympathizes with our weakness. Unlike us, He was tempted in every way, but was without sin. He knows what fortitude is required for us to turn from our sins and look only to God the Father for strength. He cried tears of blood in the Garden of Gethsemane. How can He not understand our fears and pain!
So, again, do not give into the enemy’s lie. Turn to God and know you are not alone.
