Who I Work For

23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:23-24 ESV)

I have a job that I enjoy and that I feel like I do well. I have worked with many people and many companies over the years. It was not until I realized that I needed to only work for God that my work life really settled down and became something I enjoyed doing.

When I worked for others or for a salary I seemed to always have some level of strife in my life. Some times it was business turmoil, some times it was political wrangling, often times it was just me trying to climb a corporate ladder. But when I put all of that away and just started striving to do a good job for God, everything else fell into place.

Now this did not mean that there were not some work upheavals. There have been. But when you work for God you realize that He is just moving your pieces around. Now, I do strive to do a good job for my employers, be a good peer and be a good boss to those who work for me. But when those things are put through God’s filter first, they too tend to just go better.

I am working heartily for the Lord and I know the heavenly reward is in giving Him all the glory for my life.
